Marshall Peppelman was in seventh grade when he first started attending Rob Koll’s Cornell wrestling camps in the summer with his teammates. His team attended the camp every summer and Peppelman’s relationship grew with Koll as did his admiration for the Cornell wrestling program. But it wasn’t until Peppelman started looking at colleges when he realized that Cornell offered everything he was looking for in a college.. On the Verge of a Dynasty?: #1 Recruit Taylor Officially a Nittany Lion

Back in late April LHW was pleased to announce that the then new Head Coach of Penn State, Cael Sanderson, had successfully landed two of the Keystone State’s top members of the class of 2010, the Alton twins. At that time, it was strongly believed that several of the incoming recruits that Sanderson had signed while at Iowa State would inevitably elect to follow him to University Park. A top that list was the consensus #1 recruit in the nation, St. Paris Graham’s (OH) David Taylor. This morning, after taking a few weeks to fully re-evaluate all of his options, the four-time State Champion made it official when he announced that he would indeed continue his education and wrestling career under the guidance of Sanderson as a member of the Nittany Lion class of 2013.

Two-Headed Lion: Alton Twins Give Verbal to Penn State

Exactly one week after announcing Cael Sanderson as the 12th head coach in Nittany Lion history, the decision is already starting to pay dividends as Penn State received the first of what many PSU enthusiasts are hoping will be a plethora of college commitments from the nation’s finest scholastic grapplers….And best of all, it was a package deal.

At approximately ten minutes after eight this morning (or so I’ve heard from one Keystone listener), Andrew and Dylan Alton went on the radio station, WBPZ, to announce that they are giving a verbal commitment to their hometown school….Programs cited by the two young men as missing out on winning the Alton sweepstakes were Big-12 perennial powers–Nebraska, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State, as well as Big-1o members—Michigan and the two-time defending National Champions, the University of Iowa. Altons Double the Gold!

Brothers Andrew and Dylan Alton (earlier in the season we published an interview with their father) take home the gold Saturday at the PIAA Class AAA State championships as they become the first Central Mountain wrestlers to take back-to-back state titles. This marked the first time the brothers won major titles together.
