Lee Kemp: The Journey to Excellence

Scott Casber of Takedown Radio brings a fascinating interview to the wrestling community with this interview of Lee Kemp. I didn’t know much about Lee Kemp before the interview, but I’m glad I watched it. Lee Kemp is a remarkable man.

Scott Casber of Takedown Radio brings a fascinating interview to the wrestling community with this interview of Lee Kemp.  I didn’t know much about Lee Kemp before the interview, but I’m glad I watched it.  Lee Kemp is a remarkable man.

Here’s what Al Bevilacqua had to say about the interview:

The emphasis of the interview was on the importance of the basic skills of wrestling. Lee quickly caught your lead and went on to fully explain and expound the importance with his personal development that made him successful so quickly.

Every young wrestler in America should listen to the piece. Many people think you have to wrestle 100 matches before the age of 10 years old in order to be able to compete at the highest level.

Lee spoke a great deal about his high school coach who emphasized the basic skills; positions and some of his practices were sometimes just drills. A far cry what is being done today in most wrestling rooms nationwide.

Friday Night Lights (recap and videos)

Friday Night Lights was a smashing success at Johns Burns Park in Massapequa on Friday Evening July 10. Unlike the tension at other wrestling touraments, Friday Nigh Lights was a combination festival, reunion, wrestling tournament rolled into one. Contrasted with a baseball game in progress on the adjacent field, it was on the mat where you could find all the excitement and fans, not so much for America’s favorite past time.
