Before an enthusiastic crowd at Stony Brook University Arena on the evening of February 14th, CJ Labate of Commack stepped out of the shadows and into the spotlight to declare his presence to the New York wrestling community.

Before an enthusiastic crowd at Stony Brook University Arena on the evening of February 14th, CJ Labate of Commack stepped out of the shadows and into the spotlight to declare his presence to the New York wrestling community.  On his journey to this auspicious moment, CJ slayed five of six challengers by pin fall and wrestled a total of 22.5 minutes out of a maximum 36.

Long Beach Aiming for The State Title

On the evening of December 16th 2009 the Long Beach Marines stormed into Wantagh Warrior territory to establish their dominance. Expectations were high.

On the evening of December 16th 2009 the Long Beach Marines stormed into Wantagh Warrior territory to establish their dominance. Expectations were high.  Their community of fans, coaches, wrestlers, and Section VIII aficionados anticipated a challenger to Wantagh’s newfound section dominance.   There wasn’t tremendous hype. There were plenty of skeptics.  One was Wantagh.

Mike Simon Leads the Hawks (Hunter College)

Hunter College, a New York City Division III wrestling program, takes to the mat for the 2009-2010 season under the leadership of interim head coach, Mike Simon. After thirty continuous seasons, Bob Gaudenzi will take a temporary leave from his head coaching duties. For Simon, the head coaching role is the realization of a dream that was first planted when he began wrestling in the 8th grade at Warwick Rhode Island.
