This is round two of Chris Edmonds’ championship campaign in the 1985 NCAA DI wrestling championships. Chris met Dan Romero of Cal-Poly in the round of 16 and defeated him by overtime decision: 6-6, 9-4.

In a hotly contested dual meet, Longwood edges Brentwood by a score of 27-26. The match started at 119. With Brentwood in the lead 26 to 21 it was on the shoulders of Nick Hall to pull out a win with a pin. Well, Nick delivered in an exciting final match of the dual meet. Rocky Point Edges Wantagh on Criteria

Rocky Point defeats Wantaght 27-27 on criteria with Rocky Point winning 7 bouts vs. Wantagh winning 6. The featured bout of the match was the hard contested battle betweenSteven Dutton and Paul Ligouri at 135; Steven defeat Paul by a score of 3-0. The match was 0-0 going into the third period, when Dutton escapes and scores a takedown to win 3-0. In another feature match John Greisheimer defeats Anthoy Volpe at 152 by a score of 9-3. The match was close for the first two periods with Volpe mostly on the defensive.

When we looked at this match last week for a preview we said it would come down to one key match and bonus points, and that is exactly what happened. If one match goes the other way in this dual MacArthur escapes with a victory. Instead Wantagh won the key match of the evening and received big pins from Matt Lowe, Thomas Hall and John Gresheimer to seal the victory.
