Section XI Individual; Dual and Tournament Team Rankings (11-02)

This is the second release of the Section 11 individual; dual meet and tournament rankings.

This is the second release of the Section 11 individual; dual meet and tournament rankings.

For the tournament team ranking, actual tournament points were calculated as if the rank was the position wrestlers would finish in the section tournament. Four dual rankings, head-to-head results were used where possible. Many teams are not reporting their results on either LIWA or NWCA Online.

For tournament team rankings, the attempt is to identify the outcome of the section 11 tournament. As we’ve seen historically, performance at tournaments is uneven based on the size of the tournament. For example, teams winning the team standing at section often do not win smaller early season tournaments.

  1. How is Sinclair ranked at 285 when he lost to his own team mate as well as Confessore from Sachem North at the Sachem Tournament? And also why did Confessore get taken off the rankings?

    1. You do realize many teams aren’t reporting the results? We rely on results for rankings, so they are only as good as the published results are. Not sure if that was a factor here. It could have simply been an honest oversight or there were other losses by Confessore that canceled out the win over Sinclair. Sometimes it’s a case of A defeats B, B defeats C, and C defeats A. Who do you give the nod to there? Anyway, when you give the input, we evaluate it on the next ranking, so thanks for the input. We’ll see if we need to make some adjustments in the next release.

      1. Oh allright, thank you for explaining to me. I didnt realize that not everyone reports results, I understand now

  2. Why is Nick Piccinini (Ward Melville) ranked 1 at 96 in Section 11 not ranked in the state when Anthony Donofrio (Longwood)is?
