Hofstra University wrestling will open its home wrestling season taking on nationally ranked University of Maryland team in their newly refurbished Physical Fitness Center on the campus in Hempstead, L.I.

Hofstra University wrestling will open its home wrestling season taking on nationally ranked University of Maryland team in their newly refurbished Physical Fitness Center on the campus in Hempstead, L.I.

The Annual Brunch for Hofstra Alumni and Boosters is scheduled for 11:00am at the Alumni Club. The wrestling community is welcomed and encouraged to help support the only NCAA Division 1 wrestling program on Long Island.

Reservations : Contact Mike Unterstein at (516)463-6144 cost is $100 for Brunch. Wrestling match follows 2PM

Dr. Vince Zuaro, founder of Freeport HS wrestling program, and the most recognized official in the world will be on hand to say a few words to the team and the fans regarding his wrestling experiences.

Vince recently honored by FILA, the International Federation, at the 2010 World Championships in Moscow. He became the inaugural official to be inducted into the FILA Hall of Fame located in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, OK. He was already inducted as a Distinguish Member of the National Hall of Fame in 1984.

Special Guests and a welcome home to Kerry McCoy, head wrestling coach at the University of Maryland (ACC) after a stint at Stanford University (PAC 10) will be on hand at the brunch speaking a few moments to the guests and his many friends from Long Island.

Kerry, without a doubt, is one of the top wrestlers to wrestle on Long Island. Long Island has produced many state high school & national champions on all levels and in all styles including USA World & Olympic Teams.

No one has ever accomplished all of them but Kerry.

State HS Champion from Longwood HS, twice NCAA Champion for Penn State, a World Silver Medalist and a two time Olympic Team Member.

The Dual is competing with the opening of the high school season and many fans, wrestlers and parents will be support their teams. Please try to make the Brunch or if possible the dual. Wrestling, especially on the collegiate level, needs more fans and more support.
