Just want to say thanks to all the people who followed Damon McQueen and Nigel McNeil. They worked very hard to achieve their goals but were rarely mentioned in the media. I finally got to enjoy the article about my nephew but there should have been one about Nigel too. Huntington High School has produced the most State wrestlers in history, and were written about the least. That’s ok now because noone can take away their State Championship!!! I will continue to CHEER for the Huntington wrestlers as well as for Grant Greene(a wonderful person and a hell of a wrestler)!!!!

    • Hi Aunt Elaine,

Paul Widerman here–Huntington HS NY State Champion ’77, ’78, Olympic Team Alternate ’84.

I rarely write comments on line about anything…BUT, you are totally on point and I could not agree with you more! I have been trying to follow the Huntington team from CA where my company is currently based–it took until today to even find out how they did in the states….

I am so proud of the wrestlers, Kieran and of course Coach G–who has been a coach, 2nd father, and friend to so many of us. He rocks and we all know it.

Please pass on my regards and deep felt congratulations. I KNOW how hard ALL Huntington Wrestlers work–they deserve whatever accolades the achieve.

      Sincerely, Paul

Paul, we had the Huntington-Hauppauge dual as a live webcast here on LHW the past two years. Huntington is always on our Suffolk radar for coverage. McQueen-Greene was the best final Saturday night and McNeil is very, very impressive. Huntington is still Huntington…not much more needs to be said than that.
