The Bulls from Smithtown East (8-2 overall and 2-1 in league) defeated the Cougars from
Centereach 64-6 in a Suffolk County league III match at Centereach High School on January 15,
2010.
With a forfeit at 135, the Bulls lead in the team score 6-0. The wrestling then began at 140 with sophomore Smithtown Bull Casey O’Malley pinning Spencer Weiss in the second period to give the Bulls a 12-0 lead. At 145 senior Brendan Oseback stepped into the lineup and pinned James Banzer to increase the lead to 18-0.
Bull senior league champion co-captain Kyle Eagan worked out a decision over a tough defense from the Cougar’s Mt. Sinai tournament finalist Matt Seidell 8-0 to give the Bulls a 22-0 lead. At 160 senior Bull Dan Reiter pinned Andrew Bruning to increase the Bulls lead to 28-0. Junior Tim Kopiske earned a 9-0 decision over Anthony Boccio to make the match score 32-0.
At 189, Smithtown’s junior Pat Falk used a series of arm bar near falls for a technical fall over Dan Edsel to make the score 32-0. After a forfeit at 215, the score was 43-0 moving to the lighter weights.
At 103 Smithtown Bull pin leader Branson Berger pinned Anthony Parrotta in the first period to continue the shutout 49-0. At 112 Centereach c0-captain and Bay Shore and Bellport tournament champion Luc Noens up 2-0, pinned Justin Burns in the second period to put the Cougars on the scoreboard, 49-6.
At 119 Bull junior Dan Burns pinned Kevin Tarpey making the team score 55-6. At 125, Bull co-captain Dylan Clay took down Cougar co-captain Jake Pusateri and won 8-1 and the team score stood at 58-6 going into the last match.
At 130 Bull sophomore Eric Binder overcame a choke, a 4 point near fall and a 9-0 deficit and pinned a shocked Sion Sosa in the second period to end the match giving the Smithtown Bulls a 64-6 win over the Centereach Cougars.
