Called into duty for the second time on the morning, Clymer was every bit as dominant (if not more so) against former Nazareth wrestler, Pat Murphy…Building up an 8-0 lead with a takedown and a pair of three-point nearfalls, the incumbent 184-pounder starter would be en emphatic cap on his day, pinning his redshirt freshman opponent with :45 remaining in the first period.
Picking up where his Gold teammate left off was three-time CAA Champion, Lou Ruggirello. Expected to redshirt in 2009/2010, the participation of the 2009 NCAA Round of 12 wrestler was more a treat to the fans than a move made with lineup implications…Competing against Banks (who after beating Vaith on behalf of the Gold team in the first match of the wrestle-off, had been traded to Blue), Ruggirello put forth a solid effort, compiling a pair of takedowns, an escape, and a three-point tilt, to go along with a significant amount of riding time to clinch the team competition (22-10 with one bout to go) for the Gold with an 8-0 major decision.
Franco’s aforementioned decision victory over Manley would close the show, as the Pride now turn their attentions towards getting prepared for their first test against intercollegiate competition, a dual on November 15th against the University of Buffalo at the friendly confines of the Mack Sports Complex.
The expected starters at 125 (Steve Bonanno), 157 (Jon Bonilla-Bowman), 174 (Ryan Patrovich), and heavyweight (Paul Snyder) did not compete today because of injury or a lack of an available opponent.
